Firtash Foundation has given prize money to the winners of the Malanka Festival in Chernivtsi
A traditional malanka festival, Malanka Fest, has taken place on January 15 in Chernivtsi. During its history the festival has become popular with its participants as well as citizens and guests of the city who had come to see a Ukrainian carnival. For the second consecutive year, thanks to the founders of Firtash Foundation - Dmitriy and Lada Firtash - the prize money alone for winners of Malanka Fest in Chernivtsi is one hundred thousand hryvnas! 42 teams (about 1500 participants) have taken part in the festival.The winners were the participants from Krasnoilsk who have received 50.000 UAH, the Malanka from Gorbov village took the second place with 30.000 UAH, and the ensemble "Berda" from Verhni Shyrovtsy village of Zastavnivskyi district took the third place with 20.000 UAH. The most picturesque "pereberiya" was also marked by money reward. In addition, traditionally all registered participants of the Festival were given a money reward for participation in the amount of 4.000 UAH, so no teams have been forgotten!
This Malanka differs from the previous one, because it has already got a status of the international festival, among the participants you can find teams from Romania and Moldova, and what is more, the charitable foundation has initiated a process of inclusion of the Bukovinian Malanka into the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Along with the festival a Christmas village organized by Firtash Foundation will be opened in the center of the city till January 20, here you can visit the Father's Frost Palace, give your child a pony ride, warm up on the ice rink and visit a fair where you can taste the Bukovinian food and buy handicraft souvenirs and other nice little things.
