Giving the Children a Fairy Tale!

On 15 December 2012, Chernivtsi’s annual Christmas market was opened on Cathedral Square.

“Giving the Children a Fairy Tale!” – this was the principal aim of Firtash Foundation founders, Dmitry and Lada Firtash.  A Father Frost palace was built on Cathedral Square in which entertainment, amusements, gifts and a real-life Father Frost awaited the children.

Until 20 January 2013, younger residents were able to enjoy free horse and pony rides. With the support of Firtash Foundation, a giant honey cake weighing 152 kg and measuring 1.25m by 2.5m was baked for the occasion.  Another nice surprise for the residents was a 40-metre ice rink.

The festive programme included performances of Ukrainian folk music and dance groups. The opening ceremony finished with a spectacular firework display.
